RSTP 602 - Integration II: Clinical Integration Credits 3

This course explores the knowledge, concepts, and models of integration as it relates to the practical world of clinical work and relationships. Emphasis in this course is on the emergent properties of spirituality, faith, religious belief, and theology as they intersect with emotional and relational processes in the clinical setting. This will involve students exploring the areas of hermeneutics, ethics/values, their own Christian tradition, and their personal development in order to foster clinical resilience. Grade Mode: A.

RSTP 603 - Integration III: Relational Integration Credits 3

The course will provide an overview of the field of spiritual formation from an attachment theory lens. The goal is to help students integrate concepts from attachment theory and related psychological theories with the field of spiritual formation, as well as to promote their own psychological-spiritual formation at a personal-experiential level. RSTP 745 - Maturity: Psychological and Theological Perspectives Credits 2

This course investigates theoretically and experientially some of the major religious and secular approaches to the role of pain and suffering in human maturation. In particular, this course examines the role of pain/suffering from the perspectives of Zen Buddhism, psychoanalytic theory, existential psychology, studies in post-traumatic growth, and Christian theology. Occasional seminars are offered under this course designation with focus on some contemporary integration issue, controversy or special research interest. Topics may include Christianity and Contemporary Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; Christianity, Psychoanalysis, and Film: Clinical Implications; Clinical Issues in Integration: Power and Privilege; Developmental Considerations in Psychoanalytic Theory, Therapy, and Christian Theology; Human Sexuality; Human Trafficking; Integrative Strategies for Clinical Work; Positive Psychology; Psychoanalytic and Christian Reflections on Therapeutic Action; Religion and Health; and Trauma and PTSD in Clinical Practice.
