Biblical and Theological Studies Requirements

Thirty credits of biblical and theological studies are included in the program of each traditional undergraduate student. Beginning in Fall 2023, select high-credit majors and transfer students with 45 or more transferable credits completed after high school graduation at admission, are eligible for a reduced requirement. It is recommended that each student take at least one course each semester until the requirement has been fulfilled.

  1. To be eligible for the reduced Bible requirements, transfer students should submit all official transcripts for evaluation before Biola's first day of classes. Eligibility for this requirement reduction is determined at the time of enrollment (end of the second week of the first semester enrolled) and cannot be updated should more credits be transferred after matriculation.
  2. Transfer students with 45 or more transferable credits completed after high school graduation or students in eligible majors will automatically be assigned the requirement reduction but can pursue the Biblical and Theological Studies Minor by taking additional courses as listed in the minor above. Students must file a minor declaration with the Office of the Registrar to have the minor appear on their record and degree audit.
  3. Transfer students entering in January 2023 with 45 or more transferable credits completed after high school graduation will have the opportunity to change their catalog from 2022-23 to the 2023-24 catalog to be eligible for the Biblical and Theological studies requirement reduction. To qualify, these eligible students must file a catalog year change form starting in June 2023 and have all official transcripts submitted by January 17, 2023. Students who switch catalog years will be subject to all of the degree and graduation requirements of their chosen catalog.
